A Peer Recovery Program: Peer operated programs are increasingly recognized as a vital resource by such notable authorities as the US Surgeon General (1999) and more recently, President Bush's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health have called for peer support services to be integrated into the continuum of community care. There is a pressing need for for mental health consumers with peer leadership skills. The guiding philosophy of all peer-delivered services is that those who have "been there" are the best helpers. This certainly has been our experience at JTP. Our trained peer leaders are here to help you to utilize your full potential, minimize relapse, communicate needs more effectively, and how to self-advocate.
